Manchester United have won the battle for Romelu Lukaku’s signature.
A statement from the Old Trafford club on Saturday confirmed that a deal has been agreed with Everton for the striker, subject to medical and personal terms.
Late interest from Lukaku’s former club Chelsea had threatened to derail United’s pursuit but Jose Mourinho held firm to reunite with his former front man.
The Belgium international’s impending departure is set to net Everton an overall world record transfer of £90 million with an initial £75m paid up-front.
Wayne Rooney’s anticipated return to Goodison Park will also be factored into the switch with United valuing the England captain as a £10m makeweight.
That takes the overall value of the deal to £100m although Rooney’s homecoming never hinged on the outcome of Lukaku’s proposed switch.

Lukaku will finalise terms of his move in Los Angeles, where he has been holidaying with his future Red Devils teammate Paul Pogba.
Both players, who are represented by Mino Raiola, will link up with United’s squad on Sunday ahead of the start of the club’s pre-season tour of America.
Meanwhile Everton have completed the signing of QPR midfielder Josh Bowler.
The 18-year-old emerged as a target for the Blues in June after making his senior debut for the Championship side at the end of last season.
Bowler has signed a three-year contract and will join David Unsworth’s under-23 squad alongside fellow summer arrivals Nathangelo Markelo, Anton Donkor and Boris Mathis.
