Everton are said to be finalising a deal to sign Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.
Giroud is expected to leave the Gunners this summer following their capture of Alexandre Lacazette on Wednesday in a club-record deal of £52.7 million.
The 30-year-old has emerged as a target for the currently free-spending Blues and is expected to consider a move to Merseyside in the coming fortnight.
But Carlo Jacamuzzi, the club’s scout in Italy, has claimed that a £20m switch is already imminent after dropping interest in Napoli striker Duvan Zapata.
“There are no developments in the negotiations between Everton and Zapata,” he told Radio CRC.
“Also because I think Everton are today going to finalise a deal for Giroud for £20 million, which is a bargain compared to the £25m being demanded for Zapata.”
Giroud ended last season with 16 goals in 40 outings for Arsenal and lifted the FA Cup for a third time since moving to the Emirates Stadium.
His capture would see Everton’s current spending surpass the £100m mark.
Ronald Koeman has already added Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru, Sandro Ramirez and Michael Keane to his ranks this summer.
