Barcelona set to re-sign Deulofeu from Everton FC

Gerard Deulofeu will rejoin Barcelona as they plan to exercise the Everton winger’s buy-back clause.

Deulofeu rejoined the Blues two seasons ago but found himself on loan at AC Milan from January after failing to force his way into Ronald Koeman’s plans.

But the 23-year-old is now set for a Nou Camp homecoming after reports in Spain claimed that his former club are finally preparing to trigger his release.

Ernesto Valverde is said to be planning to stamp his authority by accommodating Deulofeu in Barca’s attack, with Lionel Messi tipped to move into midfield.

The Catalan giants had the option to bring back the Spain international last summer by exercising a buy-back clause that would have cost £6.3 million.

Due to the the up-to-date terms of Deulofeu’s Goodison Park contract, his return will now stand at £10.5m as Valverde prepares to shape his new club’s fortunes.

Barca technical director Robert Fermandez admitted in April that the club was considering bringing the player back “to play for the first team”.
