Pickford edges a step closer to Everton FC switch

Jordan Pickford will be confirmed as an Everton player after completing a medical.

Pickford is set to join the Blues after they agreed a deal worth £30 million with Sunderland for the highly-rated goalkeeper earlier this week.

Medical staff from Goodison Park travelled to Poland on Wednesday to advance the transfer with the 23-year-old currently on international duty with England.

The Black Cats stopper underwent a medical in Kielce, where the national side are based for this month’s European under-21 Championship in the country.

Talks on personal terms will be discussed with Pickford upon his return from the tournament as Everton prepare to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

Negotiations with Ajax over a £26m deal for Davy Klaassen are at an advanced stage while Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez is still in contention.

Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson and Burnley defender Michael Keane are also on Ronald Koeman’s wish list this summer for the forthcoming 2017/18 campaign.

Additions are also expected from Italy following Steve Walsh, Everton’s director of football, travelling to Milan on Wednesday to discuss potential transfers.
