Pictures: 70,000 strong crowd head to Aintree ahead of Grand National

Today’s Grand National Day, featuring the £1-million Crabbie’s Grand National, is a sell-out, with over 70,000 racegoers at Aintree.

A detailed crowd figure will be issued later this afternoon.

This follows terrific attendances on the first two days of the Crabbie’s Grand National Festival.

Grand Opening Day, Thursday, April 7, saw a record crowd of 35,581, up 829 on the previous record for the day, 34,752, in 2015.

Yesterday’s Ladies Day saw 47,084 racegoers, an increase of over 2,000 on last year, flock to the racecourse.
