A man and several dogs have been found dead in a West Derby house.
Police were called to Coachmans Drive at around 6.10pm on Friday (June 5) after reports that a man aged in his 70s was discovered deceased inside the address.
Emergency services attended the property and found a number of dogs inside with some sadly died. The RSPCA are aware and are carrying out their own enquiries.
The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances as well as locating his next of kin.
A 55-year-old woman from West Derby was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, carer ill-treat/wilfully neglect a person and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
She has been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries.
Temporary Detective Chief Superintendent Helen Bennett said: “Our thoughts at this time are with the family of the man who has sadly passed way.
“As this matter is clearly in the very early stages, we would ask people to avoid speculating and allow us to carry out our enquiries.
“Although we have arrested a person in connection with the investigation, we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.”
