Ladies Day defied the odds that the penultimate day of this year’s Grand National festival would be a fashion flop.
Attendees turned the stereotype upside down as thousands of well turned out women graced the course at Aintree today, taking in seven fantastic races.

In the face of the attempted shaming of racegoers at yesterday’s opening-day meeting, Coleen Rooney took to Twitter to hit out at the negative publicity the spectacle has received.
“Fantastic day at Aintree yesterday, lots of people made a massive effort and looked beautiful,” wrote the Croxteth-born celebrity.
“I am desperate to see these sad reporters. There (sic) showing us all what gorgeous looking people they are, dressed to perfection. Good job people can laugh. Best way to be.”
Liverpool men and women lived up to their stylish reputation and fun among a 47,084-strong crowd.
