Second prisoner escapes from Aintree Hospital

A second prisoner has managed to escape from Aintree University Hospital.

The 21-year-old man paid a visit to the hospital from HMP Altcourse, where he is currently serving a sentence for breaching his license conditions.

But the Winsford native managed to evade the watch of prison guards long enough to stage the impromptu break-out attempt on Monday morning.

He was later found in nearby Delagoa Road and taken back to Altcourse.

The prisoner became the second to find his way out of the hospital grounds in three months following Shaun Walmsley’s forced escape in February.

Walmsley remains on the run since prison staff were threatened with guns and knives by two men as they attempted to transport the convicted murderer.

Police have made a total of 14 arrests in the hunt for the 28-year-old, who sentenced to life for his role in the 2014 killing of Aintree man Anthony Duffy.
