Ronald Koeman admits he has been buoyed by Everton’s recent 9n-field disharmony.
Several Blues players appeared visibly frustrated in Tuesday’s draw with Manchester United as Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Williams were locked in a war of words.
Kevin Mirallas also reacted angrily as the winger was substituted midway through the second half at Old Trafford in favour of young defender Matthew Pennington.
But Koeman sees no problem with the outpouring of passion against Jose Mourinho’s side.
He said: “What I like to see is passion.
“They need to understand that we need to support each other. But finally I saw a reaction in this case because I think we are too nice together.
“You have to ask and you have to talk, and maybe sometimes you need to shout.
“I don’t have any problem with that because it’s also an emotional part [of the game] and the two boys spoke already spoke to each other and there’s no problem.
“But I like this, because you need to do everything to win the game and after you can be friends – not on the pitch.”
