Everton have been stunned after two of its leading academy figureheads quit inside 48 hours.
The club’s newly-appointed head of coaching Dave Adams has left his post barely seven days after joining the Blues from a similar role with Swansea City.
Adams was highly regarded for his mentoring of several managers and coaches, including Leeds United boss Garry Monk and Pep Lijnders at Liverpool.
But the 37-year-old’s departure has come as a shock to Goodison Park officials and comes just days after academy director Peter Vint had also departed.
Dr Vint oversaw Everton’s youth structure for 15 months after he was headhunted from the USA Olympic Committee in December 2015.
However the club confirmed that he has left to ‘pursue other opportunities’.
Reading chief Lee Herron has already emerged as a potential replacement for Dr Vint, after taking over the Championship side’s youth set-up in September 2016.
