Moshiri: Lukaku’s Everton FC contract refusal ‘not an issue’

Farhad Moshiri insists that Romelu Lukaku’s refusal to sign a new contract with Everton is ‘not an issue’.

Lukaku informed the Blues’ hierarchy that he had no plans to commit to a proposed five-year deal despite repeated pledges from agent Mino Raiola.

Everton had been keen to tie down the Belgium international to a fresh long-term deal with only two years remaining on his existing one, signed in summer 2014.

The former Chelsea striker would have also become the highest paid player in the club’s history with a £140,000 per week salary.

But majority shareholder Moshiri has attempted to allayed supporter fears that the club’s record signing Lukaku may now be set to leave this summer.

He said: “It’s not an issue.

“We have a strong relationship with the player and agent.

“No-one should worry, he’s our player.”
