Liverpool are in the hunt for Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa.
Jurgen Klopp had targeted RB Leipzig enforcer Naby Keita but the Bundesliga club have issued a firm hands-off warning, insisting the player is not for sale.
That could prompt the Reds to look elsewhere, with reports in Spain crediting Klopp with serious interest in Mesa, alongside a host of European sides.
Marca claim that Bayern Munich, Liverpool’s local rivals Everton and Premier League counterparts Tottenham are all pursuing the 27-year-old.
Europa League holders Sevilla are among a host of La Liga teams tracking Mesa but have failed to find favour with a £7 million move rejected by Las Palmas.
The long-serving midfielder has a £26m release clause in his current deal but the Gran Canaria club are expected to accept offers upward of £8.5m this summer.
