Koeman hails Everton FC’s defence in West Brom win

Ronald Koeman has hailed Everton’s defensive performance in the win over West Bromwich Albion.

Goals from Kevin Mirallas, Morgan Schneiderlin and Romelu Lukaku helped the Blues to a comfortable 3-0 win over Tony Pulis’ side.

It was one of the more comfortable afternoons for the Blues back line as the Baggies managed just two shots on target throughout the game.

Nonetheless, Koeman was impressed by their performance and praised his side’s ability to deal with West Brom’s threat from set pieces in particular.

He said: “I’m really very happy, it was an outstanding team performance.

“It was a little bit difficult in the beginning to create at the beginning.

“But I think in the 10-15 minutes before half time we break them down with really good football and good movement.

“The second half I’m very pleased. It was a big difference between Bournemouth at home and this second half.

“Of course, you can’t compare the two teams but we played well, controlled the game and were dangerous.

“The best, in my opinion, we brought a lot of attention defensively, how we need to defend corners and free kicks and we did outstanding in that aspect today.”
