Everton FC striker set for Crystal Palace switch

Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign Everton striker Arouna Kone on deadline day.

The Ivorian striker is free to leave Goodison Park, with manager Ronald Koeman confirming as much on Monday.

He had been linked with a move to Sunderland, who are keen to add to their forward options before the 11 pm deadline.

The Black Cats are attempting to secure Leonardo Ulloa from Leicester City but if that deal falls through it was thought they could make a late bid for Kone.

However, it appears that it will be London and not the North East that could end up being his next destination.

According to the Mirror, Crystal Palace are leading the race for his signature on deadline day.

The newspaper reports that they are hoping to conclude a six-month loan deal for the 33-year-old as Sam Allardyce looks to boost his squad for their current fight against relegation.
