Ronald Koeman makes Everton FC transfer pledge

Ronald Koeman insists Everton will not sign players to the detriment of the club’s youngsters.

To date, Morgan Schneiderlin and Ademola Lookman have been the only incomings of the Blues’ business during the January transfer window.

That reluctance to indulge in further signings has coincided with the emergence of midfielder Tom Davies, who inspired the recent 4-0 thrashing of Manchester City.

Mason Holgate has also enjoyed a renaissance following his early-season emergence after featuring in last weekend’s win over Crystal Palace.

And the Everton manager has vowed that any additions will continue enabling the progression of Goodison Park’s upcoming generation of players.

“As a coach, I see if a new signing can hinder the development of a new talent,” Koeman wrote in De Telegraaf.

“We can go and sign again, but in six months a talent might just be ready.

“Then you want to give him perspective. I think it’s nice to see the young players from their own training centres in England knock on the door.

“I want to give them confidence. In England, they generally hesitate, and don’t play young players too early. But as a Dutchman, I just don’t hesitate to give them a chance.”
