Moshiri hailed for backing Everton FC youth transfers

David Unsworth has hailed Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri for helping the club’s under-23 side with their plans to recruit new players.

The Blues’ youth coach is keen to add at least two signings to the current Premier League 2 leaders’ ranks before the transfer window closes on January 31.

Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo and Sheffield Wednesday striker George Hirst are thought to be Everton’s preferred targets in the market.

And Unsworth has paid tribute to Moshiri and the Goodison Park board for their willingness to invest in the future of the club during the current window.

He said: “You never say never but I’m hopeful of one or two but if not, no problem, we’re not down to the bare bones.

“We’d love to bring quality, young players into our group.

“But they have to be the right players, players we think are good enough to play in our first-team or we wouldn’t entertain the idea and I couldn’t go to the board and the owner and ask to bring in any player.

“We wouldn’t do that. They have to have the potential to play in our first-team.

“And I have to say, that every time I’ve gone to the board and to our first-team they have been brilliant and they have backed our judgement.”
