Liverpool FC plan £20M swoop for Draxler alternative

Liverpool are set to turn their attention to landing Quincy Promes as an alternative to their failed pursuit of Julian Draxler.

Draxler agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain in a £38 million deal next month after Jurgen Klopp failed to convince the Wolfsburg winger to join the Reds in talks.

Promes has struck 37 times in 72 outings for Spartak Moscow and is on good terms with Anfield midfielder and compatriot Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Holland international’s current contract was recently revealed to be in the region of £20 million, which is expected to provoke interest in the January transfer window.

Spartak have already sourced Promes’ replacement in Lokamotiv Moscow’s Aleksandr Samedov while they are reportedly planning to make further additions.

Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has emerged as a potential loan option, according to the Daily Mirror, despite Everton remaining favourites to sign him.
