Premier League midfielder closing in on Everton FC switch

Morgan Schneiderlin is on the verge of securing a move to Everton.

The midfielder has endured a difficult 18-month spell at Manchester United since moving from Southampton and is reportedly in transfer talks with the Blues.

Ronald Koeman worked with Schneiderlin during their time together with the Saints and the Daily Telegraph claim the Dutchman is keen on a reunion.

United remain hopeful of recouping their original £24 million outlay on the France international, who has not started a Premier League game this season.

West Brom are also said to be in the hunt for Schneiderlin but his preference remains linking up with Koeman at Goodison Park.

At 27, he is considered an ideal long-term successor to an evergreen Gareth Barry while Everton also retain an interest in securing Memphis Depay’s services.

Koeman has made no secret of his desire to sign Depay and remains keen after Yannick Bolasie suffered a season-ending injury against the Old Trafford club.

United manager Jose Mourinho admitted earlier this week that he will listen to any forthcoming offers for either player.

He said: “I am always open to listen to offers for every player.

“More than listen to offers, I am always ready to listen to the players themselves.

“So any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving even if it is to a rival.”
