Agent confirms Everton FC in talks for January swoop

Alan Dzagoev’s agent has confirmed that Everton are in talks to land the CSKA Moscow midfielder in January.

The Russia international is a target for the Blues and was watched by director of football Steve Walsh in last week’s Champions League defeat to Tottenham.

Walsh saw Dzagoev open the scoring against Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Wembley despite slumping to a 3-1 defeat in the group stage dead rubber.

But a number of Premier League clubs are set to challenge Everton for the player’s signature, according to his representative Anton Astafiev.

Dzagoev’s agent claims that Everton are reviving last summer’s plans to bring the 26-year-old to Goodison Park which were suppered by injury prior to Euro 2016.

“Everton and a number of other Premier League teams are interested,” he told Sport Express.

“We had been in touch with them in the summer but unfortunately Alan was injured right before the Euros.

“Now the talks are on again and we are negotiating with representatives of these clubs.”
