Ronald Koeman has vowed that he will not ask for extra time if Everton spend heavily in the transfer market this January.
The Blues are likely to be busy in the forthcoming window with unwanted Manchester United winger Memphis Depay already an established target.
Koeman’s start to life at Goodison Park become an imperfect one as his side head to Southampton looking to overturn just one win in their past eight games.
But the Everton manager insists that he will not extend the time frame for his vision for the club even if a host of new names arrive in two months’ time.
He said: “I don’t ask for time because I’m realistic.
“That’s difficult in football – even the managers of big clubs [are] asking for more time, spending a lot of money and asking for more time.
“It’s not easy to change systems of play, to change players or expect different things from players in terms of basics every day but it’s what I want.
“In the first half against Swansea, I was really disappointing and the second half not.
“We need to be more regular in the game as a whole and start better than most of the games.”
