Police have arrested two men following the stabbing of a 25 year-old male at an amateur football match at Walton Hall Park.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon following an altercation in which the victim suffered knife wounds to his leg.
He remains in hospital in a stable condition following the attack.
Merseyside Police added that they believed the victim was playing football and was assaulted as he was leaving the park.
Two men, aged 21 and 20, have now been arrested on suspicion of wounding and bailed as the investigation continues.
