Ground change at Aintree ahead of Ladies Day

A wet Friday morning has seen the going descriptions change ahead of Ladies Day on the second day of the Randox Health Grand National Festival at Aintree.
Andrew Tulloch, Clerk of the Course at Aintree, reported at 8.30am: “We had four millimetres of rain between 4.00am and 8.00am.
“The ground is now Soft on all courses and Heavy on the Canal turn of the Grand National course.”
The rain has continued, though it is lighter than earlier, and the Met Office predicts ‘Rain will gradually ease, but patchy drizzle will linger into the afternoon’.
Mildmay & Hurdle courses – Soft (from Soft, Good to Soft in places)
Grand National course – Soft, Heavy on the Canal Turn (from Soft)
All bends have moved in four yards from yesterday’s outer line to provide fresh ground on the inner.
