Tony Bellew edging nearer to dream of WBC title fight at Goodison Park

Tony Bellew’s dream of fighting at Goodison Park is edging ever closer and could be announced as early as this week.

Bellew has set his heart on stepping out at the home of his beloved Everton this summer when he contests the currently vacant WBC cruiserweight title against Ilunga Makabu.

After starring in Hollywood film ‘Creed’ last year, a role which saw him take part in a fictional world title fight at the Blues’ stadium, the 33-year-old ise growing increasingly confident of securing a deal with Goodison officials.

He said: “The club want it to happen. I want it to happen. Eddie Hearn wants it to happen

“There are a few other people that need to give it the seal of approval but it has had the seal of approval from the most important people and that is what matters.

“It would be the dream so the dream would be achieved and that is the best way of putting it.

“I’ve been a world champion and I have fought and defended my title at Goodison Park but that was all make-believe for the movie so I want to do it for real now and I believe I can.”
