Liverpool target Jamal Lewis alternative

Liverpool have shifted attention to Kostas Tsimikas in their left-back search.

Jamal Lewis previously emerged as the Reds’ preferred target as a back-up for Andy Robertson but Norwich City’s valuation proved a sticking point.

The Championship newcomers rebuffed a £10 million approach from Jurgen Klopp’s side for the highly-rated Northern Ireland international last week.

Instead, Liverpool are now pursuing a deal for Olympiakos defender Tsimikas, who is also currently attracting interest from domestic rivals Leicester City.

Both the Premier League champions and the Foxes have made tentative enquiries to the Greek Super League club about the 24-year-old’s availability.

Tsimikas recently featured for Olympiakos in their Europa League last-16 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers last Thursday.

His valuation is understood to stand in the region of £11.75m.

Leicester’s approach for the player is believed to be a precautionary measure with Manchester City and Chelsea both still actively targeting Ben Chilwell.
