Wirtz: Liverpool players are still behind Slot

Florian Wirtz insists the Liverpool dressing room still has faith in Arne Slot.

The Dutchman’s Anfield tenure remains under increasing scrutiny ahead of his side’s Champions League quarter-final first leg tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

Last weekend’s FA Cup exit to Manchester City marked the 15th defeat of the season for the Reds, a run last achieved by Brendan Rodgers in 2014/15.

But Wirtz believes that the fallen Premier League champions have not wavered in their support for Slot on the eve of their showdown at the Parc des Princes.

He said: “Yes, of course we are [still] believing in the manager.

“The team should believe in the manager because they won the league last season.

“We had a lot of good games this season, and as I said before, we wanted it to be better, but it is what it is now. We still have things to play for.

“Everything I can say to that is that we believe in the manager, and try to give our best on the pitch tomorrow.”
