Liverpool have no plans to increase their rejected bid for Alexander Isak.

Newcastle United turned down the Premier League champions’ opening offer for the want-away Sweden international with a £150M valuation currently set.

However the Reds are understood to consider a follow-up offer futile given the swift response from their top flight counterparts following last month’s tentative enquiry

Sporting director Richard Hughes led the approach for Isak, who is currently training with former club Real Sociedad as the impasse over his Tyneside future continues.

But, crucially, Liverpool will leave their initial bid on the table should there be a change in the Magpies’ stance, which could be softened by their recruitment plans.

Isak has not featured in Newcastle’s pre-season campaign after initially being ruled out of their Asia tour with an injury before intimating his desire to leave the club.

The 25-year-old remains a long-standing Liverpool transfer target with their interest predating his £63 move to St James’ Park from Sociedad in summer 2022.
