Mohamed Salah has been crowned Footballer of the Year for 2025.

Salah clinched the personal accolade for a third time after helping Liverpool sealed their second Premier League title in five years during the season’s final weeks.

The Egypt international, who recently penned a two-year extension at Anfield, has enjoyed another standout campaign with a record-setting 46 goal involvements.

He becomes only the third top-flight player to claim the award in its history, equalling Thierry Henry’s hat-trick of wins during his time with Arsenal.

Salah took an unprecedented 90% of the vote by 918 eligible members of the Football Writers’ Association with teammate Virgil van Dijk placing in second.

It marks the biggest winning margin of the competition in the current century.

FWA chair John Cross said: “Rarely has there been a more popular winner than Mo.

“His overwhelming victory is just a reflection of an incredible season. He continues to rewrite the record books and his performances this season have obviously been key to Liverpool’s 20th title.

“It’s been a privilege watching him this season and it will be a privilege to welcome him to our dinner to celebrate his success.”
