Arne Slot has revealed his half-time message in Liverpool’s win over Brighton.
Slot’s side trailed at the interval by Ferdi Kadioglou’s rifled effort while their visitors continued to ramp up the pressure over the opening 45 minutes.
The Reds returned from the break reinvigorated and later produced a three-minute comeback that sealed their return to the Premier League’s summit.
But Slot insists that his players deserve the bulk of the credit for their second-half turnaround rather than his instructions inside the home dressing room.
He said: “Credit to Brighton in the way they showed up over here.
“They showed a lot of composure, they were not afraid to play. They play out from the back really well. A lot of energy without the ball.
“We didn’t show up at all, in every part of the game, maybe except for the set-pieces part.
“If you face a very good team like Brighton it’s not enough to run once, twice or three times, you have to keep on running.
“We changed a bit of tactics [at half time] but that had nothing to do with ball possession, that had nothing to do with us coming out stronger in the second half.
“It all had to do that the players showed a different attitude and different intensity. Therefore, I said a few things and we showed a few things.
“But it wasn’t that I was screaming or fuming around. It’s just making sure the players understand this was not enough and I think they felt it themselves.”
