Liverpool’s director of scouting and recruitment is set to step down.
Dave Fallows made the decision to leave his position after 12 years where he was instrumental in winning seven major honours winging their way to Anfield.
The likes of Mohamed Salah, Alisson and Virgil van Dijk were all signed in the period following the 64-year-old first taking up the post with the Reds in 2012.
But Fallows, who previously worked for Manchester City, Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers, will depart his post at the end of the calendar year.
In announcing his impending exit, the Reds revealed that he had deferred the original decision until the club’s new leadership team was fully implemented.
Fenway Sports Group’s CEO of football Michael Edwards, who worked with Fallows during his previous spell as sporting director, paid a glowing tribute.
He said: “Dave has been a trusted colleague for over 10 years and a close friend for two decades.
“I respect his decision and wish him nothing but success with whatever he does next.
“He and his family will always be welcome at our club after the contribution he has made.
“We will miss him.”
Current sporting director Richard Hughes added: “David’s reputation is second to none in his field and his achievements at the club mean he leaves with utmost gratitude and affection.
“It speaks volumes about Dave that he remained with us to help with the transition and settling-in of a new football leadership team, including myself.
“I will always be grateful for his advice and assistance during this period.”
