Liverpool future ‘not in my hands’, says Salah

Mohamed Salah admits he would like to stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career.

Salah now has less than two years remaining on his existing Anfield contract but is yet to agree an improved deal beyond that summer 2023 expiry date.

The Egyptian’s exploits are continuing to break myriad records for the Reds, most recently as their first-ever player to score in nine consecutive matches.

He also eclipsed Steven Gerrard as the club’s all-time record goal scorer in the Champions League with a brace in the midweek win against Atletico Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed in August that negotiations had begun with the 29-year-old’s representatives over extending his stay beyond the end of next season.

But ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester United, Salah has revealed that he is not able to influence any decision on extending his stay with Liverpool.

“If you ask me, I would love to stay until the last day of my football career,” he told Sky Sports.

“But I can’t say much about that – it’s not in my hands. It depends on what the club want, not on me.”

“It’s hard, I don’t want to talk about it, but it would make me really sad.
