Xherdan Shaqiri is set to leave Liverpool after they struck a deal with Lyon.
Shaqiri made 63 appearances in a three-year period at Anfield which saw him also lift the Premier League, Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
The winger recently reported back to Merseyside after he helped Switzerland reach the Euro 2020 quarter finals, scoring three times across the tournament.
But Shaqiri’s first-team prospects with the Reds have become hampered by injury problems which prevented him putting together a regular run of games.
A host of European clubs had been linked with a move for the one-time Bayern Munich player, including Sevilla and Lazio, but only Lyon firmed up their interest.
The Ligue 1 outfit initially tabled a derisory opening bid for Shaqiri in the region of £4m three weeks ago, which was immediately rebuffed by Anfield chiefs.
However Les Gones returned with an improved bid of £9.5m on Sunday and are expected to formally confirm the 29-year-old’s signing in the coming days.
Liverpool are unlikely to source an immediate replacement for Shaqiri, who joined for £13m from Stoke City, before the transfer window closes in 10 days’ time.
Instead, Klopp is expected to utilise the options within his squad including teenager Harvey Elliott, who impressed in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Burnley.
