Jurgen Klopp has vowed that Liverpool will ‘fight hard’ to salvage their season.
Thursday’s trip to Tottenham offers the Premier League champions another chance to banish their win-less run of five matches since December 19.
It also signals the start of an intense schedule with the Reds facing West Ham, Brighton, Manchester City, Leicester and Everton all before February 20.
And Klopp, whose team sit seven points adrift of current leaders City, is hoping last weekend’s FA Cup exit to Manchester United can act as a catalyst.
He said: “I want (the performance) to be the turning point but a result would be nice as well. We concerned three goals and that is not what we want.
“I can’t always say this was the turning point and that was and that was. This is a challenge and a challenge is good.
“I am not the person who sits here and thinks my life should always be perfect and my team should always win games.
“We can’t consistently start new. We started already and we will stay on track. We will be really annoying and fight hard.
“We will be positive with the positive things and critical with the not positive things.
“We will be ready for a fight tomorrow and where it will lead us I don’t know.
“We met in December [as] first and second, obviously that is not the situation any more.
“I know it is easier in the high-flying times to believe in what you do but I was never only a good-weather coach.
“The right answer is to respond to some things and keep the things that are really good. We have to play good stuff consistently and do it more often.”
“People told us we were the best team in the world, which was never right, but we can beat the best team in the world, and we still can,” added Klopp.
“But we have to prove that on the pitch again, and we will. We are on fire, if you want, to strike back. The more negative things are thought or said about us, yeah, maybe it helps.
“We can create that common fighting spirit again. Now we can show how strong we are. I am in it, and whoever wants to follow, they are welcome.”
Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip are expected to in contention for Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after both resuming training on Tuesday.
