Liverpool have been given the go-ahead to play their final 2019/20 home games at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were facing the prospect of their four remaining fixtures away from familiar surroundings as the Premier League prepares to restart.
National police chiefs had argued for the Reds to complete the matches at neutral venues over fears fans would gather outside the stadium en masse.
Games will be played behind closed doors due to the ongoing risk posed by the coronavirus but the league leaders’ fixtures were deemed ‘high risk’.
But Merseyside Police’s backing for Liverpool to resume matches at Anfield will see their June 24 clash with Crystal Palace take place its original venue.
A venue for the Merseyside derby encounter with Everton on June 21 is yet to be confirmed, as is the location of their July 2 visit of Manchester City.
Both clubs will meet next week with Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Police and fan groups Spirit of Shankly and The Blue Union to discuss the plan for the game to go ahead at Goodison Park.
“Our aim is to ensure these games are completed with the least risk to public health and without adding further strain on the NHS and other public services,” read a Liverpool statement.
“Further dialogue is scheduled next week between all partners involved.”
Klopp’s players took part in a full-sided practice match at Anfield on Monday as part of their ongoing preparations for the league’s Project Restart plan.
Liverpool stand just potentially two wins away from winning their first Premier League title in over 30 years.
