Mohamed Salah has overtaken Fernando Torres in Liverpool’s goal charts.
Salah’s penalty in the Reds’ win over West Ham United on Wednesday saw him eclipse the former Spain striker’s haul of 65 Premier League goals.
The Egypt international equalled Torres’ tally in the victory against Manchester United but has replaced him with one goal in eight games fewer.
He also recorded an assist as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain doubled the Premier League leaders’ advantage with a perfectly weighted pass to his teammate.
Jurgen Klopp’s side completed a top-flight feat against the Hammers by beating all 19 of their Premier League counterparts in a single campaign.
However the Liverpool manager insists that he and his players were not thinking about the accomplishment heading into the London Stadium clash.
“I wanted to win it like my boys wanted to win it desperately,” said Klopp.
“Nobody thought before the game, ‘We won against 18 different teams in the league, so let’s make it 19′.
“You have to dig in [during a season]. The best way is you don’t breathe pretty much or you jump in the water, don’t breathe and then come out after 38 games and then you have a look what happened there.
“It’s difficult enough because we are not underwater. That’s how we really see it. Again, nothing like that in the dressing room. I don’t want to be extremely boring or stuff like that, it just doesn’t feel like that.”
Liverpool moved 19 points clear of Manchester City in the title race by winning their game in-hand against David Moyes’ side in London.
