Four Liverpool players in Ballon d’Or running

Liverpool have four players in the running for this year’s Ballon d’Or award.

Mohamed Salah heads up representation of Jurgen Klopp’s side in France Football’s 30-man shortlist following his haul of 44 goals last season.

Salah’s Anfield strike partners Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino were also included in Monday’s selections alongside summer signing Alisson Becker.

It is the second time Mane has been included in as many years after he featured alongside erstwhile teammate Philippe Coutinho in the 2017 list.

Ex-Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was also included in the latest list alongside Barcelona colleague Lionel Messi and reigning holder Cristiano Ronaldo.

Michael Owen remains the only Reds player to win the award, in 2001, while Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and Kenny Dalglish all finished as runners-up.
