Liverpool have confirmed that they will mark the 28th passing of Hillsborough before their game with Bournemouth.
Tomorrow night’s visit of the Cherries will be the last home game at Anfield before the anniversary of the April 15 tragedy which cost the lives of 96 fans.
The Reds will celebrate the lives of the supporters unlawfully killed at the FA Cup semi-final in Sheffield with a minute’s applause before kick-off.
Traditionally Hillsborough has been marked with a period of silence but club officials have taken the unorthodox decision following discussions with the bereaved families.
Fans in the Kop will also unveil a commemorative mosaic to the deceased while Jurgen Klopp’s side will wear black armbands as a mark of respect.
Later this week, Liverpool’s Academy side will be taking part in a Hillsborough Memorial Tournament being held at the club’s Kirkby centre of operations.
Youth sides from Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday will also take part in the two-day competition, which consists of nine and six-sided games.
On April 15, players and staff across the club will fall silent at 3.06pm, the time the 1989 game was called off, to mark the 28th anniversary of Hillsborough.
This year will be the first where Anfield has not hosted a memorial service following last April’s final remembrance at the stadium.
