Georginio Wijnaldum has criticised Everton’s tackling in the Merseyside derby.
The midfielder featured as Liverpool cemented their top four credentials with a resounding 3-1 win over their local rivals at Anfield last weekend.
But Ronald Koeman’s side were guilty of being overzealous in their approach with Ross Barkley and Ashley Williams both fortunate to avoid sendings off.
And Wijnaldum believes that one of his Reds team mates could have been seriously injured by the execution from some Everton players in the game.
“The tackles, especially those from the players from Everton made on our players, it was hard to see, hard to accept,” he told Sky Sports News.
“Because I think you can play the game really hard, but not with the intention to give someone an injury.
“For me, my opinion, that is a bad thing, because you have to play the game fair.
“Of course you can play hard, to win, but not to injure the player, because that’s not part of the game.
“I saw a few, even in the replay, I saw a few tackles that had to be red.”
