Liverpool FC appoint Ian Ayre’s replacement as CEO

Liverpool have announced Peter Moore as their new CEO.

Moore is set to take up the position in the summer as a replacement for the outgoing Ian Ayre, who is set to leave the club at the end of this month.

The Liverpool-born executive, 61, has spent the past decade working Electronic Arts in the United States and is currently the company’s chief competition officer.

Moore previously held a number of leadership positions within the video game giant’s operations including as chief operating officer and president of EA Sports.

In addition to his work with EA, he previously held senior roles at rival technology firms Microsoft and Sega as well as sportswear brands Reebok and Patrick USA.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Keele University in the UK and a master’s degree from California State University.

The appointment concludes the restructuring of Liverpool’s hierarchal structure by owners Fenway Sports Group over the previous 10 months.

In line with Ayre’s announced departure earlier this month, chief commercial officer Billy Hogan was promoted to the club’s new managing director.

Andy Hughes also changed roles by becoming chief operating officer after previously serving as the club’s leading financial officer.

On the football side Michael Edwards was named as Liverpool’s newly created sporting director last November, having operated in various technical roles since 2011.
