Liverpool FC youngster is ‘moving in the right direction’

Liverpool Under 23 coach Mike Garrity believes youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold is moving in the right direction at the club.

After captaining Liverpool’s Under 18 side last season, Alexander-Arnold went on to impress with the Under 23’s but has quickly found himself in the first team picture this season.

Following his debut in the EFL cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur back in October, the 18-year-old has made seven appearances in all competitions for the senior side.

One of those appearances was his debut in the Premier League, an impressive performance in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford last month.

His latest impressive display came for the Under 23s on Sunday as he helped his side come from two goals down to seal a 3-2 win over Tottenham at Anfield.

A bright future at the club appears to be on the cards and Garrity believes the youngster is moving in the right direction.

“Trent is doing really well and is moving in the right direction,” the U23s boss told Liverpoolfc.com.

“He was very good and you can see he has gone up a level in his game. I thought [against Tottenham] he showed how much he has developed in a short space of time.

“He’s been at Melwood since pre-season and he’s made a few appearances in the first-team and done well.

“Our plan was to get Trent in the right areas and for him to be adventurous because when he does that he causes people a lot of problems with his speed and his power.

“With the way he can twist and turn and the ability he has got with crossing the ball, it makes him a really good option for us in attack.

“We got him higher up the pitch in the second-half and he will cause anyone problems with the quality he has got.”
