Duncan Ferguson has been promoted to Everton’s new assistant manager.
Ferguson took temporary charge of the Blues following Marco Silva’s sacking and recorded an unbeaten run of four games in all competitions as caretaker.
Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment as permanent manager saw the former striker’s services immediately retained in the Goodison Park backroom setup.
Since being promoted to the first-team in 2014 by Roberto Martinez, Ferguson has served under four Everton managers and caretaker David Unsworth.
And Ancelotti has confirmed that the 46-year-old will be his joint second in command alongside son Davide Ancelotti, who was with him at Napoli.
“He will be assistant [manager] with me. He’s going to work with me and with my staff,” said Ancelotti.
“I think we need the experience and knowledge that he has about this club.
“He knows the players really well, the ambiance and the training ground so it can be really helpful.
“I’m used to working with people [previously] from the club. I had Makelele at Paris Saint-Germain, Zidane at Real Madrid so I’m used to this.
“I want to have a coach that knows there atmosphere from inside. Duncan, I think, represents a really good choice because he, knows more others, the players here and everything [else].”
He will be joined by the Champions League winner’s long-serving fitness coach Francesco Mauri, who also worked with him at Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Alan Kelly, who became Everton’s goalkeeping coach during Ferguson’s brief tenure, has also been named as a permanent addition to the coaching staff.
Ancelotti, meanwhile, has hailed the facilities at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground, where he will take training for the first time on Monday afternoon.
He said: “The training ground is perfect.
“I went yesterday, the training ground is really well organised and I don’t have to change nothing.
“At Paris Saint Germain, it was totally different, there was no training, no restaurant and so I needed to do some things.
“But here, everything is well organised, the players are comfortable at the training ground, everything is there, so I am really happy with this.”
