Everton legend Graeme Sharp has made a belated return to Goodison Park.
The former Scotland striker continues to hold the record as the club’s leading post-war goal scorer and sits second only to Dixie Dean in the all-time list.
But Sharp had not visited his old stomping ground since early January 2023 amid a civil war between the Blues’ erstwhile board of directors and fanbase.
Since leaving the hierarchy that summer, the 64-year-old claimed that the stand-off had acted as a deterrent to him revisiting the Grand Old Lady.
However Sharp, who served as a non-executive director at the time of the conflict, ended his self-imposed exile for Saturday’s visit of Ipswich Town.
It is understood that he previously met with manager David Moyes ahead of making the decision to return in time for the club’s penultimate home game.
