Farhad Moshiri increases Everton shareholding

Farhad Moshiri’s shareholding in Everton has risen to 68.6 per cent.

Moshiri originally purchased a 49.9% stake at Goodison Park in February 2016 following a nine-year stakeholding in Arsenal alongside Alisher Usmanov.

Since becoming the majority investor, the British-Iranian billionaire presided over a level of spending previously unprecedented in the Blues’ history.

Transfers have exceeded £300 million while the club’s relocation to a new waterfront stadium at the Bramley-Moore Dock is gradually gathering pace.

In early 2018, Moshiri secured a naming rights deal for Everton’s Finch Farm training ground through his link with Usmanov’s USM Holdings company.

He has also overseen the relocation of the club’s headquarters to Liverpool’s iconic Royal Liver Building, which was completed at the end of July.

Moshiri’s Blue Heaven Holdings company are expected to further increase their stake to 77.2% by the end of July 2019 at the latest.

“Everton Football Club today announces that major shareholder Farhad Moshiri has further committed to and increased his shareholding in the club,” confirmed a club statement.

“Farhad Moshiri previously owned 49.9 per cent of the club and in line with the agreement made at the time of his original investment, he has purchased 18.7 per cent through Blue Heaven Holdings Ltd, giving him a total holding of 68.6 per cent, which is expected to increase to 77.2 per cent no later than July 2019.”
