Liverpool John Lennon among fastest-growing UK airports

Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport has emerged as one of the UK’s fastest growing airports with a 12 per cent increase in passenger turnover.

Over 400,000 more people have used the Speke base to date this year according to the latest figures compared to the same period in 2015.

By the end of October, the number of passengers choosing to use LJLA has now increased for 21 consecutive months in comparison to the same period the year before, with 4.2 million passengers passing through over the past 10 months.

These latest figures reflect the continued upsurge in business at the airport following the addition of a number of new routes from Liverpool.

Further growth in passenger volumes is expected next year too, following announcements in recent months from Blue Air, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Thomson and First Choice who are all expanding their Liverpool operations.

The airport expects 2016 to be its best year for passenger numbers since 2011.
