A BBC documentary about a Liverpool man is being investigated amid claims of inciting racial hatred.
Merseyside Police are probing the programme about Akinwale Arobieke which was broadcast in September on the corporation’s online channel BBC Three.
The force confirmed that its was ‘investigating an allegation of a race hate crime’ following the transmission of ‘The Man Who Squeezes Muscles: Searching for Purple Aki’.
The documentary examined various aspects of Mr Arobieke’s past following several jail sentences for touching the muscles of young men.
A BBC spokesperson said: “This is a serious and considered film made in line with our usual editorial standards and we stand by it.
“As a matter has been raised with the police we are unable to comment further.”
