A Kensington man has been jailed for stealing the mobile phone of a murder victim.
Curtis Connick was sentenced to three years and three months at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice and theft that occurred in February 2015.
Connick, case 31, pleaded guilty to stealing the mobile phone from Kevin Wilson who had been fatally shot in Holmes Street, Toxteth.
He took the phone from Wilson’s pocket as he lay dying and disposed it hours later in a bin at Liverpool Lime Street station.
Detective Constable Emma Singelton said: “This was a despicable crime that has had a profound effect on Kevin Wilson’s family.
“Connick showed no compassion towards Kevin as he lay injured and he left him there without assisting him.
“His selfish actions severely hampered the entire investigation in the crucial early stages.
“I hope that this sentence can help the family in their grieving process”
