Joe Anderson insists that it is ‘business as usual’ after losing to Steve Rotheram in the battle to be Labour’s candidate for Liverpool’s Metro Mayor.
Both Anderson and Wavertree politician Luciana Berger both lost out to Walton MP Rotheram during the party’s nomination outcome last week.
The Mayor of Liverpool said he was ‘heartbroken’ by the result but, writing on the council’s Liverpool Express website, has outlined his plans for the city.
Anderson will chair a meeting at the Cunard Building today which will address a number of issues which may revolutionise travel in the city centre itself.
They including potentially reducing the number of lanes on The Strand and extending St George’s Plateau into the adjoining area of Lime Street.
Plans to build a permanent cruise liner terminal at the Princes Dock are also set to be discussed and finalised by councillors at the meeting.
“This long term view is important, because our economy is growing – by 3.4% in 2013/14, the last figures on record,” wrote Anderson.
“We need a better idea where to build our houses, our businesses and which areas we want to protect.”
