A Liverpool man has been arrested in Mallorca after a gun was stolen from a police officer’s hotel room.
Spanish press today reported that two thieves entered the Civil Guard officer’s room at a resort in party hotspot Magaluf.
The officer had been posted in the town as extra support during the busy summer season.
One of the men was arrested shortly after the theft and the gun was found buried in sand near a playground.
It said: “Two British young people from Liverpool, sales were staying at a hotel in Magaluf and realized that a room next door was empty.
“Criminals found no valuables in the room. After break into the safe, generic the robbers found a gun inside and ran with it.
“When the agent returned to his room, he realized that the gun had been stolen and reported the incident.
“A large Civil Guard unit was mobilized immediately with the priority of recovering the gun and detaining the thieves.”
The news website reported that one of the men had confessed and was taken to jail. Police are hunting the second man.
