A man is in hospital after being slashed across the face in Toxteth.
Emergency services were called to Ashbridge Street just off Lodge Lane shortly after 6.15pm on Friday (May 22) following reports of the attack.
The victim in his 20s was taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries to his arm and face described by police as ‘deep’ wounds.
Asbridge Street and Cawdor Street have been cordoned off with witness enquiries and forensic examinations ongoing as part of the investigation.
Detective Inspector Richard Shillito said: “We are in the early stages of an investigation to establish exactly what happened on Asbridge Street and the surrounding area earlier this evening.
“We are appealing to witnesses to contact police if they saw anything suspicious in the area at around 6.15pm.
“Similarly if you live on Asbridge Street and have any doorbell footage from 8pm please contact police. This information could be vital to our investigation.”
