Murder probe over Aigburth man’s death

A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a man in Aigburth.

Police received reports of concerns for the safety of a person inside a property on Aigburth Road at around 8.55am on Tuesday (May 5).

North West Ambulance attended the scene and discovered a man is in his 60s who was was sadly deceased. His next of kin have been informed.

At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing while a post-mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.

A 62-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “Our thoughts at this time are with the family of the man who has sadly passed way.

“As this matter is clearly in the very early stages we would ask people to avoid speculating and allow us to carry out our enquiries.

“Anyone who has information which could assist the investigation is asked to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
