Murder charge over Maghull mother’s death

Police have charged a man over the death of a woman in Maghull.

Phyllis Daly was discovered with significant injuries inside a property on Clent Road at around 1.10pm on July 13 last year and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The family of the wife and mother, 70, said they were ‘absolutely heartbroken and devastated beyond belief’ at the loss of the they described as ‘the kindest soul’.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on the same day on suspicious of the wife and mother’s murder before being bailed while further enquiries were carried out.

He was later detained in hospital, where he remains, under the Mental Health Act.

Detectives have now confirmed that Graham Daly has been charged with murder.

He is scheduled to appear via video link at the Merseyside Domestic Violence Remand Court, part of Liverpool Crown Court, on Friday (February 13).
